Lovecraft And French Canadians

I am a fan of HP Lovecraft's work. Sadly he was an emblematic racist of his time. He was wrong, but it is the way a lot of people though back then. One nuance of that particular brand of racism was to not put all Europeans on the same footing. I myself am part French Canadian - and a lot else. While very proud of my French Canadian heritage, I could not help but wonder how old HP would describe my people. In his style, I came up with this:

The best I’d get out of him (HP) would be “thick bearded squat and swarthy half-Indian backwoodsman” or “A crossbreeding resulting in the worst of the brooding listlessness of the more degenerate Mediterranean types and the taciturn, honorless guile of the savage reedmen combined in one individual. His sallow olive and dark coloration typical of this northerly mongrel breed.”

We can at least laugh at him and his ideas now
